The Shadowmoss Swim Team is part of the CCAA (Coastal Carolina Aquatic Association). Over the course of the season swimmers will have an opportunity to learn/improve on all 4 competitive strokes, participate in team traditions, and enjoy competing with, and against their friends. The teams season lasts from early May and continues through early July with the season culminating with the CCAA City Championships. The team practices up to 5 days a week, twice a day (morning and afternoon) depending on the child's swimming ability. Swimmers must be able to swim 1 length of the pool (25 meters) without assistance in 1:15 in order to make the team. Swimmers can swim on the team until the summer after their senior year of high school. Summer swimming is an excellent opportunity for children to learn athleticism, team sportsmanship, and the joy of competition. Swimming is a unique sport in that there are individual victories as well as team victories. The team is led by Coach Brad Blake who also coaches the West Ashley High School Swim Team.
Q: Do I have to be a member of the pool?
Q: What is the cost to be on the swim team?
A: The cost of registration has not been determined for the 2024 season yet. Swimmers may choose to purchase a team swim suit but is not required.
Q: Is my child good enough to swim on the team?
A: To swim on the swim team a child must be able to swim one length of the pool unassisted in under 1:15. Due to the nature of how many swimmers are in each age group, the swim team is only for swimmers who have basic water safety. If a child is unable to meet these requirements parents are encouraged to seek out swim lessons instead.
Q: What if we are going to be on vacation during the season?
A: If your family will be on vacation and will be missing a swim meet, please fill out the vacation book so that the coaches are aware. No refunds will be given for missed practices, meets, etc.
Q: When does registration open?
A: A registration date has not been determined yet but it will likely be in March of 2024.
