The Shadowmoss Swim Team is part of the CCAA (Coastal Carolina Aquatic Association). Over the course of the season swimmers will have an opportunity to learn/improve on all 4 competitive strokes, participate in team traditions, and enjoy competing with, and against their friends. The teams season lasts from early May and continues through early July with the season culminating with the CCAA City Championships. The team practices up to 5 days a week, twice a day (morning and afternoon) depending on the child's swimming ability. Swimmers must be able to swim 1 length of the pool (25 meters) without assistance in 1:15 in order to make the team. Swimmers can swim on the team until the summer after their senior year of high school. Summer swimming is an excellent opportunity for children to learn athleticism, team sportsmanship, and the joy of competition. Swimming is a unique sport in that there are individual victories as well as team victories. The team is led by Coach Brad Blake who also coaches the West Ashley High School Swim Team.
Q: Do I have to be a member of the pool?
A: Yes. Pool Registration will be online and will open on April 1st. All swimmers must be a member before they start practice. Pool membership pricing can be found on the Shadowmoss Golf & Country Club website.
Q: What is the cost to be on the swim team?
A: The cost of registration for one swimmer is $110, Two swimmers is $205, 3 swimmers is $290, and four or more is $350.00. There is also the option of obtaining a sponsor for the team and their sponsorship fee ($400) will cover your registration fee for the swimmers in your family. Sponsors will get their name and logo on our team t-shirt.
Swimmers may choose to purchase a team swim suit but is not required.
Q: Is my child good enough to swim on the team?
A: To swim on the swim team a child must be able to swim one length of the pool unassisted in under 1:15. Due to the nature of how many swimmers are in each age group, the swim team is only for swimmers who have basic water safety. If a child is unable to meet these requirements parents are encouraged to seek out swim lessons instead.
Q: What if we are going to be on vacation during the season?
A: If your family will be on vacation and will be missing a swim meet, please fill out the vacation book so that the coaches are aware. No refunds will be given for missed practices, meets, etc.
Q: When does registration open?
A: Registration will begin on March 27th at 9am and if you are new to the swim team, we highly encourage you to come to the "meet and greet" on March 26th from 3pm - 5pm at the pool.
